TTY PLASTIC YIELD ZONE — Single-Use Stretch Bolt (Do Not Reuse!)
This procedure intentionally stretches the bolt into its plastic yield zone (+0.50 mm axial advance) to maintain constant clamping force under thermal cycling. Always install a brand-new bolt.

3 Golden Workshop Rules to Prevent Snapped Injector Bolts
Blind Hole Hydrolock Cracks Cylinder Heads
Before threading a new clamp bolt, blow out the blind threaded hole with compressed air. Trapped diesel fuel or engine oil is incompressible and will crack the aluminum cylinder head water jacket as the bolt bottoms out.
Never Confuse lb·in (Inch-Pounds) with lb·ft (Foot-Pounds)
7 N·m equals 62 lb·in, which is only 5.16 lb·ft. Setting a 1/2-inch drive wrench to 62 lb·ft applies 84 N·m — more than 10 times the yield limit of an M6 bolt, guaranteeing an instant snap.
Why TTY Stretch Bolts Cannot Be Reused
A 90° + 90° turn on an M6×1.0 bolt advances the thread by 0.50 mm, permanently necking the bolt waist. Reusing a stretched bolt results in zero elastic recovery and immediate combustion blow-by.
