Product Overview

WORKSHOP NOTICEECU Calibration / IMA Coding Required

This injector requires 6-8 digit calibration code programming (IMA / QR code) into the vehicle ECU (using Bosch KTS, Lexia/Diagbox or equivalent diagnostic equipment) following replacement to balance cylinder fuel delivery and prevent DTC P0300 misfire codes.

The Denso PE01-13-350 (Mazda OE PE01-13-350A / PE01-13-350B / PY01-13-350) is the genuine original equipment high-pressure fuel pump for Mazda Skyactiv-G 2.0L and 2.5L naturally aspirated and turbocharged engines. Driven by the exhaust camshaft via an anti-friction bucket lifter, this Denso single-piston pump delivers up to 200 bar (20 MPa) injection pressure. Standard fitment on Mazda 3, Mazda 6, CX-5, and CX-30 models, it features an integrated electronic suction control valve. Typical failure symptoms include long start cranking times, surging idle, and diagnostic code P0087.

Before You Order

HIGH-COMPRESSION GDI MISFIRE & SUCTION VALVE STICKING: Mazda Skyactiv-G engines utilize an ultra-high 13:1 to 14:1 compression ratio, requiring precise 200 bar fuel delivery. When the Denso PE01-13-350 suction control valve sticks from fuel varnish or the internal discharge check valve leaks, low rail pressure causes severe cold-engine hesitation, misfire codes P0300/P0301, and DTC P0087 under highway load.

Installation Tips

Tools needed: 10mm socket and torque wrench calibrated for 10-30 N·m, 17mm line flare wrench for fuel line pipe nut, Clean engine oil for pump O-ring seal lubrication, Clean lint-free shop cloths and eye protection

  1. Disconnect negative battery terminal; depressurize fuel system before loosening fittings.
  2. Loosen high-pressure fuel line union nut slowly to vent residual fuel pressure safely.
  3. Disconnect electrical wiring connector from SCV spill valve solenoid.
  4. Disconnect low-pressure fuel supply hose.
  5. Loosen the two pump flange bolts evenly in half-turn increments to release spring tension.
  6. Remove pump body; inspect bucket lifter for surface wear or galling.
  7. Clean cylinder head mating surface and coat new O-ring seal with clean motor oil.
  8. Rotate engine until driving camshaft lobe is on base circle (lowest lift point).
  9. Seat pump square into bore; thread mounting bolts finger-tight.
  10. Torque mounting bolts alternately to 10 N·m plus an additional 90-degree angle turn.
  11. Hand-thread high-pressure pipe flare nut; torque to 28 N·m.
  12. Reconnect fuel lines and electrical harness; prime system and check for leaks.
Tips & Warnings:
  • Angle Torque Specification: Always follow the 10 N·m + 90° specification; undertorquing allows vibration loosening while overtorquing strips aluminum threads.
  • Inspect Lifter Surface: Check the bucket lifter contacting the camshaft for scratches; replace lifter if discolored or worn.
  • Lubricate O-Ring: Never install the pump dry; lubricate the Viton O-ring with clean engine oil to prevent tearing during installation.

Diagnostic Trouble Codes & Fault Protocols

Common diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) triggered when this common rail injector experiences wear, circuit faults, or calibration drift:

P0087Critical

Fuel Rail / System Pressure Too Low

Excessive internal backleak from worn control valve seats drops common rail pressure below target under engine load.

P0201 - P0208High

Injector Circuit Malfunction / Open Circuit

Solenoid coil resistance drift (0.2-0.5 Ω) or piezo stack degradation triggers driver stage shutdown on affected cylinders.

P0300 / P0301+High

Cylinder Misfire & Balancing Deviation

Carbon-clogged nozzle spray holes or missing IMA calibration causes uneven cylinder contribution. Recode ECM and verify washer seating.

P0088High

Fuel Rail / System Pressure Too High

Spill line backpressure or stuck metering valve prevents rail depressurization, creating overpressure risks under load.
